Bird Watching
Part of the major Central Flyway migration route, this area offers exceptional viewing of sandhill cranes, whooping cranes, ducks, Canadian and snow geese that number in the tens of thousands. This is in addition to the numerous other bird species that are native to Nebraska and that migrate to our area at certain times of the year making south-central Nebraska a true attraction to bird enthusiasts.

Limestone Bluffs Wildlife Management Area
6 miles south and 2.5 miles east of Franklin. Habitat includes rolling hills with grasses, rock outcrops, and wooded ravines with a spring-fed stream.

Ash Grove Wildlife Management Area
5 miles south and 1 mile west of Franklin. Includes rolling hills pasture land, grasses, rock outcrops, and a spring-fed stream.

Farmer’s Market
Seasonal – Saturdays behind Rightway Grocery at 601 15th Ave. Local honey, fruits, vegetables, arts and crafts.

Franklin City Park
Picnic pavilions, BBQ grills, tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball court, playground, Franklin Swimming Pool, Veterans Memorial, Franklin Public Library. Pets on leash are welcome.

Franklin County Museum
Three separate buildings of artifacts and memorabilia related to early pioneer settlers, American Indians, military service, famous or infamous County citizens, farming and ranching. Buildings include the main museum building, an authentic one-room 1880s schoolhouse and Ol’ Towne which replicates an old west township. Wireless internet, special tours and private meeting rooms are available.
